OUR STORY

IMG_9949.jpg

Founded in March 2020, as the world moved into an unprecedented time, the History of Strength Sports began life as an Instagram page focussing on the history and evolution of the strength sports we love.

The aim was to provide captivating historical content in an unbiased manner, reporting on the athletes, feats and stories from all cultures, eras and strength sports. Little did we know we'd find tens of thousands of curious strength enthusiasts just like us to build a community in which we could re-live history and speculate about the future of strength.

We aim to become the largest strength history resource online, the 'go to' for content on the history and evolution of all strength sports.

We'd like to thank all of our sources, contributors, followers and of course, the history makers.

“No man has the right to be an amateur in the matter of physical training. It is a shame for a man to grow old without seeing the beauty and strength of which his body is capable.”
